Helping sacred medicines nurture societal change
Kindred Trust funds high impact projects and collaborates with partners to support a dimensional and effective psychedelic and plant medicine ecosystem. We take a collaborative, reciprocal approach to philanthropy which acknowledges and uplifts those who came before us.
OUR WHY
Strategies for shifting consciousness
The world is facing multiple interconnected crises that are leading to political instability and an increasingly unliveable planet. These crises have so far proven intractable.
To address these challenges, we need new strategies that recognize the interconnectedness of our global struggles and our kinship with the earth and each other.
We believe psychedelics and plant medicines offer a vital and underutilized opportunity for shifting consciousness and rapidly surfacing the kinds of wisdom needed to drive the shift towards a more sustainable and flourishing future for people and the planet. With proper context and integration, psychedelics have the potential to contribute to consequential social change.
To foster the conditions for psychedelics to enable a shift in consciousness without reinforcing the extractive and damaging systems that led to our current crises is a big challenge and a big opportunity — one that we’re excited to take on.
What We Fund
We invest in three types of initiative we consider vital to catalyze change and fill gaps in the ecosystem:
Catalytic enabler
Bold projects we believe will make an outsized contribution to the mission if they succeed, and may accelerate the entire ecosystem.
Missing links
Initiatives that fill identified gaps, connect parts of the ecosystem, or help remove a barrier to achieving the goals.
System support
Initiatives that build the overall vibrancy and sustainability of the psychedelics ecosystem, build capability, and support communities and individuals.
OUR PRIOR WORK
Kindred Trust is inspired by the work and wisdom of those who came before us — the scientists, Indigenous communities, practitioners, and elders.
The knowledge and insights of these teachers formed the basis for our 2024 Psychedelic Listening Project report, which informs our strategy and approach to philanthropy.
