Grantmaking
Our Approach to Philanthropy
Outcomes focused
The initiatives we fund have a clear link to our mission. We focus on making an impact, while recognising that some initiatives will have more quantifiable metrics than others.
Values driven
We fund initiatives that align with our values, and we undertake our decision-making processes in a way which reflects these values.
High trust
We value the specific experience and knowledge of the people who run the initiatives we fund. We take a collaborative approach and trust grantees to do their job.
What We Fund
We invest in three types of initiative we consider vital to catalyze change and fill gaps in the ecosystem:
Catalytic enabler
Bold projects we believe will make an outsized contribution to the mission if they succeed, and may accelerate the entire ecosystem.
Missing links
Initiatives that fill identified gaps, connect parts of the ecosystem, or help remove a barrier to achieving the goals.
System support
Initiatives that build the overall vibrancy and sustainability of the psychedelics ecosystem, build capability, and support communities and individuals.
Our Values
Wisdom
Our approach is informed by Indigenous knowledge and the wisdom of elders, plants, and the psychedelic experience. We respect these knowledges, and acknowledge and uplift those who came before us.
Innovation
We can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome. Innovation and new ideas are needed to catalyze the change we want to see.
Long view
Achieving our vision is a long game. Approaches should be able to be sustained in the long-term, whether by us or by others in the ecosystem.
Inclusion
The benefits and insights of psychedelics and plant medicines belong to everyone, and we work to shape an ecosystem system that enables broad access and includes previously-marginalized voices.
Planetary thriving
We recognise that everything on our planet is interconnected, and that action in one area has impacts across the system.
Reciprocity
We strive for relationships of mutual respect and understanding, and acknowledge the historic inequality and power imbalances that make reciprocity challenging.
